Grant/Fundraising FAQ

Who is eligible for a grant?

All nonprofit organizations that share our mission for improving children’s health are urged to apply for a grant. If you don’t fit perfectly into this category, but are doing good work, go ahead and apply. All applications will be considered.

Do I have to be an organization to receive a grant or can I just be an individual?

We typically give grants to nonprofit organizations who share our mission of fighting childhood obesity, but we make exceptions to anyone who is doing an inspirational work in this world. Go ahead and fill out the Grant Application Form describing yourself and the great work you are achieving. We will evaluate your cause to see if it qualifies for a grant.

Can I apply for help for someone else?  Can I refer someone even if they aren’t related to me? And if so, can I do so anonymously?

You can nominate a nonprofit organization that you believe is helping improve the world. To do this, please do not fill out the Grant Application Form, simply email [email protected] and we will get back with you and the organization you nominated shortly. You can nominate anonymously, but we need contact information and background on the organization you are nominating. Please make a note in your email if you want to nominate anonymously.

What is the typical grant amount?

Grant amounts are determined following careful consideration of the organization’s mission and need, the amount requested, and other factors.

Once I apply for a grant, what happens next?  When do I hear about the decision?

You will hear from Children’s Obesity Fund within 2 days after your fill out the Grant Application Form to let you know we have received it. It takes 7-10 days to process the application form and make a decision. If it has been longer than 10 days please email [email protected]

If my application is accepted, how long does it take to receive the grant?

After your grant application has been accepted and an amount has been agreed upon, we will send a check within 3-5 days.

I applied for a grant and would like to check the status. How can I do that?

If it has been more than 10 days since you filled out a Grant Application Form and you have not heard from us, please email [email protected] and we will be glad to update you on the status.

What types of events are eligible for a fundraising match?

We would like to match the fundraising efforts of any nonprofit organization that aligns with our mission of fighting childhood obesity. If you do not fit perfectly in this category go ahead and fill out a Fundraising Matching Form. We will evaluate every application we receive.
